7 Romantic US Cities

Charleston, SC

The most affordable time of year to visit Charleston is during the winter months (January and February).

The hotel rates are at their lowest, and there are often deals on dining and attractions during February, a bonus since Charleston is typically more on the expensive destination side.

This historic city is known for its charm and beauty, reaching the top of the best romantic cities list.

Imagine walking around the oak tree-lined streets holding hands downtown or through the gardens on Magnolia Plantation.

Visit the famous Charleston City Market, then cruise to the Battery, a must-see historical landmark.

Charleston offers many great dining options for foodies and romantics alike.

Nashville, TN

If your idea of romance is singing cover songs with a live band, then the music city may be for you!

Again, visiting Nashville in February is ideal for saving on flights and hotels, as it’s the cheapest time of year to go.

With mild winters and enough honkytonks to keep you going nonstop for a month, Nashville offers a weekend getaway like no other.

Along with the live music scene, Nashville offers art, shopping, breweries, and whisky distillers tastings.

If you want to kick up a few notches, try the local moonshine, a homemade un-aged whisky. Warning you, most of it is illegal; I recommend going to a distillery to try.

Don’t forget the cowboy boots!

Savannah, GA

Sweet Savannah, oh, how I miss your charm.

Another historical city, Savannah, has a Southern charm like no other: often known as one of the friendliest cities.

The weather is mild in February, great for a romantic picnic in Forsyth Park or dining at The Old Pink House, arguably one of the most romantic restaurants in Savannah.

A great couple’s activity is the Riverboat Cruise or walking through the squares in the historic district, full of mansions, monuments, and a park-like setting.

It’s one of the best romantic cities in the US for good reason.

February is an affordable month to visit.

Now let’s switch jackets and check out the coldest getaways on this list.

My sunseekers hold on.

Chicago, IL

Another friendly city on the list, Chicago offers that warm fuzzy feeling of bundling up and holding your partner close.

Imagine strolling down Magnificent Mile arm and arm to a trendy hotspot to dine and warm up with a glass of red wine.

Sounds enjoyable?

If it's too cold outside, an afternoon at a museum can add a little diversity from all the shopping and dining options.

To see the best city views, visit 360* Chicago, and the Skydeck offers a great selfie location.

Foodies will enjoy the French Market, one of the best spots to taste the city's culinary bites.

Pack your parkas, you may need to wear them!

New York City, NY

The last cold romantic city to visit in February is NYC. As James Cameron said, “I love trips to New York; to me, it is the finest three-day town on earth.”

NYC needs to be on the list of romantic getaways. Why?

Why not? From its many museums, Broadway shows, art exhibits, a plethora of dining, shopping, and park options where you’ll find horse-drawn carriages. The possibilities are endless.

Usually, you can get a cheap flight during February on Expedia.com, and hotel rates are lower than usual. Just bundle up, 'cause baby, it's cold outside!

Alright, for those who want to escape the winter cold and romance in the sun, the last two budget-friendly getaways are for you.

Fort Myers, FL

Beaches, warm sunny days, and all your worries wash away, or something like that.

February is not a cheap time to go to Florida, as all the snowbirds and winter escapists come.

However, Fort Myers made the list for its affordability (in comparison to the other cities on the list).

Travel sites like Expedia.com offer deals and discounts throughout the year on flights, accommodations, and rentals.

On the West Coast of Florida (Gulf side), its beaches and sunsets impress the sun seekers.

You could take a romantic visit to Lovers Key State Park; afterward, enjoy a romantic dinner at the beach, or go on a sunset tour and grab a homemade ice cream after dinner.

Or spend all your time at the beach drinking margaritas as you please.

San Juan, PR

For the real go-getters who want to fly away to a tropical island for a weekend, consider Puerto Rico.

You can find affordable rates in San Juan, PR, in February.

Imagine a romantic day at Flamenco Beach or a boat ride to Cayo Icacos, then dining in style at one of the many restaurants.

San Juan has many historical sites like Paseo La Princesa and Old San Juan, to name a few.

This US Caribbean island is full of tropical romance.

Well, lovers, I hope this list inspires your wanderlust.

You can find great affordable rates at some of the best locations in the U.S. in February.

Whether you enjoy a mild, cold, or warm getaway this winter, there’s somewhere waiting for you.

Cheers to romance, Happy Travels, and a Happy Wallet.
